Gloria Darlene and Franklin Thomas Fox were the parents of Megan Denise Fox when she was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, on May 16, 1986. She spent her early years in the adjacent town of Rockwood. When Fox was three years old, her mother and her parole officer father were divorced.

Fox and her sister were raised by her stepfather Tony Tonachio during her mother’s subsequent second marriage. Despite being “very rigidly Pentecostal” raised, she eventually attended a Catholic school for 12 years.

The two, she claimed, were “very rigid,” barring her from dating or having visitors stay at her house. She lived with her mother until she got enough money to sustain herself.

In Kingston, Tennessee, Fox began acting and dancing lessons when she was five years old. After taking home multiple prizes at the 1999 American Modeling and Talent Convention in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Fox began her career at the age of 16.

Fox made her acting debut in the 2001 movie Holiday in the Sun as Alex Stewart’s adversary and pampered heiress Brianna Wallace (Ashley Olsen). From 2003 to 2004, she was able to secure guest spots on shows including Ocean Ave., What I Like About You, Two and a Half Men, and The Help.
